Under the water,
under the sea,
if you sink to the bottom for a peak
you will see,
urchin, sponges, corals & crabs.
The beauty of the benthos is never quiet drab.
Sometimes they visit from waves to the sand,
wandering around on the dry land.
Respect the sea creatures
Much Love 💜 Much Life
The warm sands under my toes it a cherished image, but by late morning that stuff can be painfully hot so I walk in the shallows. I did that at Laguna Beach in CA once and my feet froze to the ankles. I played upon the near beach and helped some kids build sand castles.
I do not trust Benthos under my bare feet. Spines, sharp shell fragments, bits of coral, things that bite…. I only feel comfortable in water clear enough to see the bottom and only so long as I stay above that bottom. I watch people jumping off a perfectly fine floatation device, boat, ship, raft etc and go swimming in the deep ocean and I come close to a panic attack…. 3,000′ to the bottom, I think, and I do not want to become anything “Benthotic” if that is a word… I hope I could snorkel in the shallows but that’s about it. The deep ocean floor, important as it might be, our true birthplace it might be, but not for me; not in this lifetime anyway. Maybe in the next turning of the wheel I shall be a squid and get used to deep places and darkness. The “Abyss” I can take as a movie but not in reality.
I am made of Star-stuff; that’s what I like to keep my eyes on.
