I miss the softening glow
From the rooftop of home, I know
Sun setting out in the west
Over the river, Mississippi’s best
Laughter and music flows from the south
Awkward romances that never have drouth
Connections are found and simply become lost
Floating down, a gentle coin toss
The trolly goes by, the last one tonight
A hustling crowd strolls out of sight
The moonbroch can be seen from the top of my world
A bird is in flight, we sing, and we twirl
In an instant, it happens, I see the dawn
Another night in the city has transpired and gone.
