Jagged Dreams

Jagged dreams

A time, it seems, so long ago

When we stood together in highs and low

A hug or thousands throughout the day

The knot to be tied, only to halt all dismay

The impossible brought before our eyes

A jagged dream was left to subside

We longed for a partner a friend

Someone to stay until the bitter end

Neither was willing to give this a try

Mid-September was our last kiss goodbye

Written letters, an outlet, misunderstood

Dreams shattered, did we know, they would?
