Foundation 365 D17
Being able to commit to yourself is a big deal! We all have friends that try to persuade us to do things that may not make sense for us. Maybe an employer that tried to bend the rules in order to profit. It takes a very strong and firm foundation to be able to stand up for yourself and your beliefs in situations like these. Especially the latter.
Standing up for yourself when someone has wronged you or asked you to do something that does not go along with your values is very difficult for some. I believe this stems from not having that firm foundation. Granted every situation is different and there are times when you can move or bend if it makes sense, but it has to be a decision that makes you feel good. It definitely should not make you feel bad.
If you are just learning how to do this, one of the simplest way to start on this journey is one word. That one word is “no.” This word requires no return for explanation. It’s simple and understandable. Everyone has heard this word before.
An easier phrase might be “let me think about it.” This phrase does require a return and possibly an explanation. I have found that when using this phrase, you have to be the one to go back and return without them asking you again. Otherwise you’ll just be the deer in headlights again.
In either case you may experience the Almighty question, why. The response should be clear, short, understandable and honest.
Speak your truth! Have confidence! Know your foundation!
