The Heart Of A Hero

The Heart of a Hero

Years of stumbling, falling down

Failure depleted on dirty ground

Longing, needing a better way

A place of safety, to feel okay

The nights are long, strangers lurk

Walls are thin, if at all and hunger hurts

Hopeless thoughts invade the mind

Words of which were so unkind

Parade around, could they be true?

Sadness paints the world in hues

Black of darkness, shades of night

Without the stars, without the light

No Reflection, no intent

No colors shine or rays present

Until the end, accept no more

An inkling deep down into the core

A touch of kindness, a smile, hello

An acceptance, I understand, I know

The sideway glances from uncertain eyes

A feeling of unexpected implies

From a paragon, true and wise

Saw this girl, absolute deprived

Of hope, of light, of happiness, damaged

Not the worst but still a challenge.

The angel heard and filled the gap

With purpose, love and encouragement perhaps

Freedom and courage with a willingness to adapt

Setting examples of a healthy life

Surrounding reminders of hope from strife

Compassion arises in the depts of valleys

Strength increases on incline of steps tallied

The lessons of life, learning again

Where to belong, where to fit in?

Who to surround or say please let me go?

Habits and values, changes needed to know

Constructive criticism, building to last

A woman of virtue, no need to look back

No need to reminisce on the empty and lack

Of Memories lost, of so long ago

The wrongs never right, rolling with flow

How far she’s come, still more to grow

Wonderful surroundings of heroes she knows

Sitting around a soothing warm fire

Chatting until it is time to retire

She closes her eyes again for the night

Excited to see the brightness of light

The morning of dawn, a warm breeze, delight

She counts her blessings, of her heroes, her friends

A place that was healing filled with laughter, a home

A place that filled her with courage to find a new place to roam

She is prepared to start a new journey, adventure

Building the foundation with purpose and center

A beautiful outcome, strengths put to use

Abounding in courage, the comfort of knowing

The heart of a hero is constantly growing

Helping and accepting the lost and the broken

Giving the courage to see others through

When they are uncertain of what else to do

We all are lost, broken and heroes, it is true

Only depends on the season of view.
